Databases

These materials are intended for use with all database and MS Access
units.
The general ICTs glossary is also
recommended for use with these units.
Unit overview: This unit forms an introduction to other more
practical database units. It gives participants an understanding of the
concepts behind database development, a sense of how database work can be
applied to information projects and how to start thinking about the
database planning process. It is primarily about developing an awareness of
databases which can form a basis for future training in more practical
aspects of database development work.
Duration: 3 hours 10 minutes
Target audience: People from telecentres, civil society and
development organizations with an interest in information management and/or
a need to develop their organization's information management systems.
Prerequisite skills: Basic computer literacy.

tables fields, records and primary keys.

familiarity with the concept of databases (gained through the MMTK
"Introduction to Databases" unit or elsewhere).
